We’re just like you. Really.
We want the best for our family and we know what we eat matters. We want you to have local, grass fed, grass finished meat for your family, too. Grassworks Farm is an opportunity to bring what we’ve been looking for to our hometown.

OUR FAMILY
Grassworks Farm originated from an idea to raise grass fed and finished beef for our family. Little did we know, when all of this started, just how big our family would become.
We were married in 2014 and had our first baby, a little girl named Emory Sloane, in 2015. In 2017, we welcomed our second daughter, Hazel, into our family. In the fall of the same year, we brought the first ten cows to our property. As the farm has grown and we’ve added to the herd, we’ve also added to our family. In the winter of 2019, we got pregnant with (spontaneous) triplets! Eli, Harlow, and Emmett joined our family in September of 2019.
THE LAND
In the early 1950’s my great grandfather purchased the land where both my father and I have raised and are raising families. As technology and the farm economy have evolved and changed, there have been several different iterations of what the farm has looked like from that time. From the typical diversified grain and livestock farm of that era, to cutting edge technology for hog production and no-till techniques, to a reinvention of purely a hay and straw farm, the one thing that has been constant is change. I view this as a testament to the foresight and creativity necessary for small farms to continue to be viable. In 2014, we took what we believed to be the next step and decided to transition a portion of the original farm purchased by my great grandfather to organic. At the time, the motivation was purely financial as it represented a way to take advantage of the premium associated with organic products. In the years that followed, as my knowledge base expanded and so did my family, our priorities shifted. We began to recognize how important providing the highest quality food for our family was going to be. At this point, our pursuit became something more than just a business, this was about a lifestyle. This lifestyle would benefit all aspects of the farm. From that realization and some advice of some really smart people, the first thing we “planted” was fence posts with the idea of using animal impact to help the farm realize its full potential. The basic gist being we wanted to promote healthy soil, which promotes healthy forage, which promotes healthy animals, which all work together to create food that equates to healthier and happier people. This is something meaningful enough for us to sacrifice and strive for. Since there were no local options for us to secure 100% grass fed/grass finished beef, it became clear that the animal impact we sought would be from cattle. In the fall of 2017, after an extensive search, we unloaded the first heifers on the farm. Although, this process has been years in the making, we are really excited to finally be able to provide our grass fed beef not only to our family, but to yours!
